Wabash and Erie Canal Park
Delphi, Indiana

Our pilgrimage will explore the 19th Century heyday of the Indiana canals, with a chartered cruise aboard the Delphi, a replica of an 1840s canal boat, as well as tours of sites in the Carroll County town of Delphi, which has drawn praise for reclaiming its canal history in interactive ways. The canals were man-made waterways that brought people and products to pioneer Indiana.
Our Pilgrimage includes:

- A guided tour of the Canal Interpretive Center, a museum that includes interactive exhibits as well as oil paintings of life along the Wabash & Erie Canal, which stretched from Toledo, Ohio, to Evansville.

- A tour of the Reed Case House, a grand, Federal-style home built in 1844 by a contractor for the Wabash & Erie Canal. It became an inn for travelers and canal workers.

- A private cruise aboard the Delphi, a replica of a working canal boat, on the Wabash & Erie Canal. The stretch of the canal that we will cruise is the only portion in Indiana that is water-filled and accessible to the public. Our guide will share anecdotes and insights about everyday life more than 150 years ago.

- Meet some of the shopkeepers of Pioneer Village.

- Enjoy a Canaler’s lunch – of chicken, pork, vegetables, cookies and assorted drinks from Stacks Barbeque of Delphi.
Extra things to do on your own in the area:

- Walk the trails around Delphi and the Wabash River, check out the local shops in Delphi, Prophetstown State Park, Tippecanoe Battlefield Museum.
- Lafayette is only 25 miles away, with hotels along the I-65 corridor.

Price per person is $65.00, and includes the tour, the private canal boat cruise, and lunch. Guests are welcome.
Participants must provide their own transportation to the Wabash and Erie Canal Park, 1030 North Washington Street, in Delphi. Meet at the Canal Park Visitor Center and Museum by 9:45 a.m.
